I was inspired by the photos taken in the early 1900’s of the west coast. These photos are housed at Queenstown’s Galley Museum.

Another wonderful photo I came across was of Mrs Fowler. Plenty has bee written about her husband Percy, sadly I have yet to find out her first name.

I have always had a fascination for black and white photography. My fascination began when I was very young, my father developed his own negatives and photos in his make shift darkroom in our tiny dining room.
I loved seeing the negatives through the lamplight and watching the photos develop, shadows and faces of family and pets appearing on the white paper, under the yellow light.
