About

A black and white portrait photo of Grace Garton in her art studio.

Grace Garton is an Australian artist based in Rosebery, Tasmania, who is known for her work in mixed media painting and soft fabric sculptures. She studied Visual Arts at City Art Institute from 1983 to 1985, and soon after began working in the animation industry, where she spent 27 years across various studios in Australia.

In 2006, Garton shifted focus to her own art practice, launching a small online business selling vintage-style, fabric anthropomorphic dolls and prints of her artwork. With a permanent home studio, she now experiments with collage, acrylics and printmaking, often drawing inspiration from her garden, birds, landscapes, and still life.

Her work has been exhibited in various institutes and galleries across Melbourne and Tasmania, and she has built a dedicated following both in Australia and internationally.
