ABOUT Grace Garton

I work across a broad range of mediums, I find this to be the most freeing way for me to work. By bringing together elements of printmaking and mixed media, collage, and illustration I find it contacts me to my environment and to the way I feel and see the world around me in colour, texture and shape.

My studio is nestled amongst large gum trees and bushland located on the upper eastern shores of the Derwent River.

I have been a full-time career artist since 2006, building up a following with my whimsical landscapes and art dolls which have sold worldwide.

Cv and Bio

I am an artist based in Tasmania.  Originally from Sydney where I studied art at Liverpool technical college and Sydney City Art Institute.
After completing my Bachelor of Visual Arts, I turned my hand to follow a career in the animation industry, which I have been working on and off for the past 27 years.

During this time I relocated to Hobart to further my art studies and work in animation as head of design. In 2006 I decided to dedicate my time to work as a full-time artist.

My work as a mixed media artist and doll maker has been well received and has been gaining interest from local and international buyers.

Currently, my artworks involve larger hand-painted art dolls and assemblage art based on Eastern European folktales conceived in the Australian environment.
