Character Design

So I've been immersing myself in character design.

I've had this little girl character in my head and on paper over so many years.

Recently I've been looking at the beautiful concept art of Elena and Olivia, they are sisters, twins to be precise and are production designers at Dreamworks. Inspired by their digital art I downloaded some brushes and played around with some expressions and new look for my character..HELGA, a big name for a pint sized 8 year old.

Early days..so stay tuned!

Up Skilling

I've been using Flash from its beginning to now where it is known as Adobe Animate..I used to do a little coding with it and even made my own website..sadly no longer up..but mostly used for animation and production design.

Being a curious type and always wanting to know how things work, I've enrolled in a "few" online classes to learn a few new things.

After Effects is one program I've always wanted to know about..still early days with this program but I'm realising just how powerful this thing is.

To use this program well is going to take sometime, the timeline is a little frustrating..adding keys is not very intuitive, like in flash,  but I guess that's just something I have to learn.

This is my Illustrator file, everything is on its own layer.

Here is the file imported into After Effects, paper textures and tints have been applied to all the layers.

Here is a camera view of the separated layers and the lighting.

Next to animate the scene!
