I am a suburban girl with a passion for the natural world.
I have lived in the inner city and dwelt in the outer suburbs of Sydney
and Melbourne and moved from suburb to suburb for over 20 years in
Hobart.
I have always taken an interest in what type of animals are living close
by and if a garden wasn’t established where I lived I would put one in.
My art is strongly connected to nature; I love exploring the habitats of
animals and plants found in the proximity of my backyard.
2020 provided me with the incentive to STAY AT HOME and discover
the rich diversity I am surrounded by every day, nature in suburbia.
My work looks at the beauty and vulnerability of animals living
amongst us and I hope to encourage people to be more aware of the
delicately balanced environment we share. We need to slow down
and observe, understand and learn from nature before we lose our
lifeline to it.
Using my three favourite mediums, watercolour, soft sculpture art dolls
and mixed media paintings to explore the beauty found close at hand in
a suburban backyard.
